Increased incidents involving civilian casualties have proved to be detrimental in winning the support and trust of the Afghan people. The UK and especially the US and NATO forces must adopt a policy of zero innocent casualties. Air strikes should be limited to those instances where the target is well defined and civilians will not be victimised.
